Utah’s ski areas are world-famous for their deep, light powder and dramatic mountain terrain in the Wasatch Range. Many of the state’s resorts lie just outside Salt Lake City, making them some of the most accessible major ski destinations in North America. Well-known resorts include Alta Ski Area and Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon, along with Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Resort near Park City. Together these and several smaller resorts offer a wide range of terrain, from gentle beginner slopes to steep alpine bowls. Thanks to Utah’s famously dry snow—often described as “the Greatest Snow on Earth”—the state has become one of the premier skiing destinations in the United States.
