Honduras’s national parks protect a wide variety of landscapes, from tropical rainforests and rugged mountains to coral reefs in the Caribbean Sea. One of the most important is Pico Bonito National Park, a large mountainous reserve near the northern coast that preserves dense rainforest and dramatic river valleys. Offshore, Cayos Cochinos Marine Natural Monument safeguards coral reefs and marine ecosystems within the Mesoamerican Reef system. Other parks such as Celaque National Park protect the country’s highest peaks and cloud forests, including Cerro Las Minas.
